If You Were the Only Girl

by Louis Prima

on Strictly Prima! (1959)

If you were the only girl in the world
And I were the only boy
Nothing else would matter in the world today
We could go on loving in the same old way
A Garden of Eden just made for two
With nothing to mar our joy
I would say such wonderful things to you
There would be such wonderful things to do
If you were the only girl in the world
And I were the only boy

A Garden of Eden just made for two
With nothing to mar our joy
I would say such wonderful things to you
There would be such wonderful things to do
If you were the only girl in the world
And I were the only boy

This is the song that my father used to sing to us. (Deceased) It's also the song that was going through my head a fortnight ago, with a clear image of my father laughing down at me while we danced when I was small. However, I was to be contcted later that day, to inform me of my mother's passing as well. I can't say Thier marriage was beautiful. Nor that each was a peaceful soul. But in the midst of all the sadness? I felt a spark of joy that I'd long since forgotten existed. Perhaps you'll think I'm crazy. But I feel he may have been there when she passed. Taking her hand and showing her how he should have treated her. It gives me hope.

You have to read the book Signs by Laura Lynn Jackson. You will absolutely know you are right about your Dad and Mom. I was just reading the book and then saw your post! It blew me away!
